SMAVOO

Turning complex warehouse tech into an engaging, easy-to-grasp web experience

Next-generation intralogistics technology shaping the future of warehouse automation

About the project

A single hour of unplanned downtime in automotive manufacturing can cost up to $2.3 million, according to Siemens. SMAVOO, a Hannover-based intralogistics innovator, helps manufacturers prevent these costly disruptions through intelligent production-logistics solutions that combine real-time tracking, automated replenishment, and autonomous transport.

SMAVOO’s ecosystem combines RFID, GPS, IoT connectivity, smart sensors, wearables, and digital labels, giving teams live visibility over materials, equipment, and workflows while fully integrating with existing ERP and WMS systems. It serves manufacturers and logistics operators across the entire intralogistics chain, with leading industrial companies such as Bosch, Porsche, MAN, and Scania among its clients.

Challenge

SMAVOO came to us with a goal to make a complex intralogistics offering easier to navigate and act on. With 95% of its audience being B2B, our task was to move beyond an outdated visual language and create a professional, boldly modern web experience that made value clear and supported decision-making, extending this vision into product design concepts.

Our process

In intralogistics, even strong technology can lose buyers if it takes too long to understand. That’s why across every stage, from website redesign to early platform design concepts, we focused on making SMAVOO’s solutions clear, intuitive, and credible from the first interaction.

Website redesign

Since SMAVOO’s technology stays largely invisible in practice, the redesign had to show where and how its solutions operate in real warehouse contexts.

Website development

Once the design was complete, our developers built a modular Webflow site with scalability and editorial independence in mind, so SMAVOO’s team could update and grow it on their own.

Product redesign concepts

After the website work, we helped SMAVOO look ahead to the next stage of its platform, developing concepts that explored how the nine-module product could look, feel, and support users more clearly.

“We started working with Halo to build a website tailored to our tech niche. From the beginning, we were looking for a partner who could help us clarify what we really needed and bring our vision to life with the right structure and expertise. What stood out the most was how flexible and thoughtful the team at Halo was. They took the time to understand our needs and made sure we felt heard at every step.”

01 Discovery & research

Starting with a competitor analysis, we found that few brands showed intralogistics technology in context, shaping our direction toward demonstrating solutions in practice. Alongside this, we audited the current site’s UX and interface to flag strengths and areas for improvement.

Deliverables

  • Three competitors analyzed
  • UX/UI audit

02 SEO groundwork

Before redesign began, we ran a full SEO audit to make sure the new site wouldn’t lose ground it had already earned. We researched target keywords and audited the current site’s structure, content, and technical health, building recommendations for every page.

Deliverables

  • SEO audit
  • Keyword research

03 UX design

We structured the site as an awareness-to-decision funnel designed to guide B2B technical buyers from SMAVOO’s mission to a confident buying decision. To ground the journey in reality, we anchored solutions to a visual map of where they operate on the warehouse floor.

Deliverables

  • Wireframes & user flows
  • Clear information architecture

04 UI design

For the interface, we developed a charcoal-and-grey, high-tech aesthetic, with yellow accents inspired by warehouse workers’ hi-vis jackets. Custom blueprint-style illustrations showed products in their real environment, helping users picture how they’d fit their operations.

Deliverables

  • Nine pages designed
  • UI kit

05 Motion & animation

We paired 3D facility scenes with animated system diagrams — visual maps of how sensors, gateways, and machinery sync through SMAVOO’s platform. Scroll-triggered animation runs throughout, making the technology feel as dynamic on screen as on the warehouse floor.

  • Animated system diagrams
  • Micro-interactions

01 Webflow development

We built all key site pages in Webflow, using a modular component system and responsive layouts. This kept the experience consistent across devices, accelerated delivery, and gave SMAVOO’s team a scalable Webflow setup they could easily maintain and expand.

Deliverables

  • Desktop & mobile builds
  • Responsive page layouts

02 Page templates & CMS

To make the site easier to scale, we created master templates for product and solution pages that SMAVOO’s team could duplicate and fill without assistance. All dynamic content was moved into the CMS, giving the team full editorial control over every page without touching the code.

Deliverables

  • Page templates
  • CMS setup
  • Written admin guide

03 Interaction & animation

We used purposeful interactions to make complex intralogistics processes easier to understand. To keep the experience fast, we presented detailed process flows as lightweight video animations, showing RFID gates, picking workflows, and AGV routes without compromising performance.

04 Pre-release review

With development complete, we ran two rounds of review: first checking the build against approved designs, then validating content and functionality with the client. After resolving final issues, we implemented German language support and handed the completed site to SMAVOO.

Deliverables

  • Design & content review
  • Bug fixing

01 Market & product research

We analyzed competitor products and real user feedback to understand how people actually experience tools in this space and what earns long-term adoption. Next, we turned to the existing platform, identifying where current UX created complexity and inconsistency.

02 Concepts development

Building on our findings, we developed three product concepts to help SMAVOO compare possible directions for the platform experience.
