Designing a modern dating app for the 21st-century swinging lifestyle
A UK-built social network bringing verification, discretion and modern design to the swinging lifestyle

About the project
Playful Pineapple is a UK-built social network for the modern swinging lifestyle — a category long served by cluttered, dated platforms where trust signals are weak, and discretion is an afterthought. The founders set out to bring it firmly into the 21st century.
The app pairs a familiar discovery layer with stronger anti-catfishing logic: AI-driven photo verification, watermarked uploads, a mutual-like gate on direct messages, and a simultaneous face-swap reveal that protects both sides.

Challenge
The swinging lifestyle was stuck on hardware-heavy, fake-profile-riddled platforms that felt dated and indiscreet. Playful Pineapple needed a brand and clickable prototype that could disarm the category’s stigma, signal trust to a skeptical audience, and convince investors the team could carry a modern social network to launch.

Our process
We translated a stigmatized category into a trust-led product brand and an investor-ready mobile prototype across two tightly linked tracks — branding and UX/UI design.
Branding
The visual identity had to read as elegant and discreet without losing the playful symbolism the lifestyle community already recognized.

UX/UI design
The product needed to translate competitor pain points — fake profiles, message spam, off-platform chats — into a deliberate, defensible flow.

Our approach
We treated the swinging category the way you’d treat any premium consumer product — leading with trust, restraint, and modern visual craft rather than the clichés the space had inherited.

“They were a fantastic company to work with, and we hope we can continue in our next phase of web development. Their UX/UI and general design skills were very impressive, but they also had a very good operational process which was executed perfectly.”
