The NEMT industry is marked by a fragmented market structure, where the use of outdated and incompatible technologies by various stakeholders results in inefficiencies and poor coordination. These issues are further compounded by excessive reliance on manual and labor-intensive processes, which can lead to missed appointments and a lack of emphasis on service quality by transportation providers.
Kinetik sought to address these issues by designing a platform that would consider the needs of all users and develop specific products for patients, brokers, and transportation companies.
The application of advanced technologies played a critical role in the development of Kinetik. Our team utilized a combination of React, Redux, and Google Maps API to create a seamless user experience and ensure real-time tracking capabilities.
Over the course of this extensive project, our specialists have created more than 210 application screens, ensuring the product is comprehensive, efficient, and user-friendly. We have focused on creating an intuitive user interface that would improve the overall experience for people interacting with the product. The Halo Lab team has put a lot of effort into testing and iterating on the design to guarantee the final result meets the expectations of our client and their end-users. This thorough approach to developing key components such as Trip Assistant, Revenue Management System, and Trip Scheduler contributes to making Kinetik a strong and complete platform for NEMT services.
The key aspect of the development process for the Kinetik platform was focusing on user flow. Our team placed a strong emphasis on understanding the needs and goals of the different user groups. We employed this understanding to create a user flow that guides users through the various tasks and actions they need to perform while ensuring that the UI is intuitive and practical.
To achieve the project’s goals, our team utilized a design system — a set of design guidelines, components, and patterns that we developed and used consistently throughout the project. This allowed us to create a cohesive and consistent experience for users, while also reducing the development time by reusing common elements across different screens and features.
The client requested our assistance with key components that enable the Kinetik platform to fulfill its primary goal. As part of this arrangement, our own specialists were helping the client’s in-house team to design and develop three interlinked vital components.
As per the client’s request, we also designed Kinetik’s site with user experience in mind, featuring a minimalist and stylish aesthetic. The signature animated “connectivity lines” with dots symbolizing drivers on the roads are paired with harmonizing fonts to convey the accessibility of the product. To better demonstrate the interior functionality and ease of use, we also included animations with sequences of actions. All these elements and refined gradients looked the best on a dark background, which the client ultimately chose for the final design.
Additionally, the client requested us to carefully craft Kinetik’s brand identity to convey a sophisticated and understated image. So our designers used fresh blue and menthol gradients to create associations with healthcare and innovation, and clean fonts to convey a technological and forward-thinking feel. Through this approach, we were able to effectively address the client’s vision and the demands of the industry. To ensure the product’s success, Halo Lab also provided the client with a comprehensive set of materials, including pitch decks, social media content, presentations, and a brandbook.
