What a public sector team gets from a Halo Lab engagement is a service people can finish. Not a redesign that looks current for two years, but structure, plain language, and accessibility work that hold up when the audience is genuinely everybody.
We design GovTech and public sector sites to WCAG 2.2 AA as a starting point, with service journeys mapped to how citizens actually arrive, content written to be understood on a first read, and a CMS non-technical staff maintain safely.

3 main challenges holding back your growth

Outgrown identity
Your company has grown, but the brand no longer reflects scale or direction.

Guidance reads dense
Policy language survives into the pages citizens are expected to act on.

Accessibility falls short
Contrast, focus order, and screen reader paths fail those who need them.

Services scatter widely
One task spans several departments, and nobody owns the path between them.

FAQ
Why invest in branding services?
When your branding and positioning are clear, your business shapes perception, builds trust, and drives growth. That said, a strong identity creates an emotional connection with the audience, making you memorable, recognizable, and impossible to ignore.
But without this, the opposite happens. So, no matter your needs, be it launching a new business or refreshing an existing one, investing in branding services ensures you stand out in a crowded market and attract the right audience.

What does government web design include?
Service journey design, WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility, plain language content, forms and eligibility flows, information architecture, open data and transparency pages, mobile-first layouts, Core Web Vitals optimisation, SEO structure, and a CMS handoff.
What accessibility standard do you work to?
WCAG 2.2 AA as a baseline, built in from the first design decision rather than audited at the end, and tested with keyboard and screen reader before launch rather than after it.
How do you handle policy language?
We rewrite it for a first read. Legal accuracy is preserved, but the wording a citizen acts on is separated from the wording a policy team is obliged to publish.
How do you design services across departments?
By mapping the task, not the org chart. A citizen completing one task should never need to know which department owns which step, or navigate between three separate sites.
How long does government web design take?
Most public sector website projects run 10 to 18 weeks from discovery to launch, depending on the number of services, accessibility scope, and approval and review cycles.
Can you design long application forms?
Yes. Eligibility is checked early so nobody completes twelve steps to be refused, progress is saved, and every field earns its place before it reaches the applicant.
Do you work with agencies or GovTech products?
Both, and the structure differs. An agency delivers services and needs task journeys and accessibility; a GovTech product sells to agencies and needs procurement, security, and compliance evidence.
Do you handle content and plain language rewriting?
We can. Service copy, guidance structure, and plain language rewriting are available as part of the engagement, drafted with your policy team and reviewed before publication.
Can you also develop the website?
Yes. Design and development are delivered by one team — Webflow or custom front-end, CMS setup, form and case system integrations, accessibility work, and QA before launch.
